Our film for Bioderma, featuring Zehra Güneş, centers around pairing her volleyball defense skills with Bioderma's skin defense. Known as the "Turkish Wall," Zehra Güneş builds an impenetrable barrier on the court, paralleling the message that we should also defend our skin.
The film opens with our actress in a post-match press conference setting, where she begins to narrate the story to the audience. This approach creates a narrative axis where, apart from the volleyball and application sequences shown through flashbacks, our actress directly communicates with the audience. This narrative axis also serves as a pivotal scene, transporting the story from its climax to the application phase.
In her direct narrative to the audience, Zehra Güneş emphasizes the importance of defense, showcasing her volleyball defense through flashback scenes. We initially wanted to prepare the audience with a defense scene. Subsequently, we depicted Zehra transforming into a wall using a sci-fi film-inspired design and process, which we correlated visually with a modern/digital wall that could be aligned with the skin barrier and Bioderma's color palette. Supporting this correlation, we employed a zoom-out shot starting from the skin barrier.
Following the climax, in the locker room, we witness Zehra Güneş's plans for "skin defense" with natural camera movements and a shadowless, high-key lighting design. In the more performance-focused volleyball sequences, we opted for a dramatic lighting, whereas in the application parts, we chose a more intimate and shadowless beauty lighting, thereby establishing two visually distinct axes. We considered how this cinematographic choice would serve our narrative, aiming to enhance the match atmosphere in the volleyball sequences and increase intimacy in the application parts. This approach allowed us to both elevate the audience to the climax and provide a positive relaxation afterward.
