When we first met with the magazine team for this film, which marks the comeback of GQ MOTY, the only information we were provided with was: Three locations, three worlds, and many prizewinners.
“It’s a genre I am unaccustomed to, but it pulled me in. Viewers will not believe I’m behind it, as it’s a very different genre from my storytelling style. But it gave me such a playground that I had a lot of fun creating the light and atmosphere.”

Since the film was to be released at the awards ceremony, we had a tight timeline to develop the project and get it on set. The three locations were representing the three sites of our three-day set, and we had to design them in a certain way to connect characters from three different worlds. Those separate universes opened a very large window for us, both aesthetically and timewise: Digital met analog, new met old, dark met light.
“That voiceover in the trailers of Hollywood movies can bring this film to the next level. Let’s deal with these clichés.”
- Murathan Özbek
When we decided to create a dystopian science fiction universe for our film, Blade Runner was one of the main inspirations. We were roused by various cinematic works for the sound and light design of the film. We wrote character stories to link every award winner and finally added a voiceover to hold the entire film together.
The last addition to this mysterious dark atmosphere was to write the final scene that would be enlightened by humor. Ultimately, we came up with a story that was shaped and developed throughout the process and a 3-minute and 45 seconds science fiction mystery film.
