We witnessed toys coming to life years ago in Toy Story, whereas in No Way Back, we wanted to look at this possibility from a different angle. This story, set in the 90s, had a special significance for us. While creating the film, we remembered being a child in the 90s and the dozens of adventures and memories we went through.
In the video we shot for Phallen’s “No Way Back” track, we tell the story of toys in the endless bickering of siblings (or rather, how an older brother torments his sister).
In every detail of the room, one can find traces of our toy designer Özgür Mert Yavru, who uplifted our lives at that time and embellished the film.
We completed the entire planning of the film, in which stop-motion and live-action were intertwined on Blender. And before shooting the film, we finalized the animatic with the angles we designated in the room and with the dexterous touches of Kabuk Studio.
"Working with Defne and Umut took me back to my childhood. I might have discovered two actors who will become stars soon."
